6 secrets to living your most creative life

Abraham Maslow states, “…the greatest cause of our alienation from our real selves is our neurotic involvements with other people, the historical hangovers from childhood, the irrational transferences, in which past and present are confused, and in which the adult acts like the child…If we have no audience to play to, we cease to be actors. With no need to act we can devote ourselves, self forgetfully, to the problem”. -62

We desperately need of a different kind of human being on this planet. Being creative means being healthy and fully alive. The universe pours through the creative person making new and unique possibilities happen – making change occur.

Creative individuals have a interesting set of characteristics that the general population does not have. Here are the basic attributes of what it takes to be creative.

1) Live in the present moment.

Creative individuals become completely absorbed within their project and in the present moment. They don’t look back to see what anyone else is doing of why. There is an intensity in the moment that allows a sense of courage to create masterpieces.

These moments are ongoing and a provide whole and everlasting presence of flow to come through. It is heightened consciousness flowing through. Individuals that flow in this way to not use the past as a reference for what they are doing now. They also don’t prepare for the future because they are completely involved in the study and discovery of their creation. This type of compete absorption helps to cast out fears or doubts of failure.

2) Become innocent like children

Being open to new experiences and being willing to enter into different territory is vital to creativity. One must have an open perspective to do this. Being completely innocent is also an attribute of the creative individual.

These people don’t look to the outside world’s belief systems or dogmas for support. They are comfortable that their production will be unique and stand against whatever has been previously produced..

3) Become more aware of yourSELF than of others

Creative individuals are fiercely independent, they will not allow another to think for them and always want the freedom to choose. They do not respond to others in ways that will win their approval, in fact they don’t necessarily ever care for the approval of others. This is because their needs are met intrinsically.

When you become less aware of others, and more aware of yourself, you are on the road to creativity. Obviously children should act like children and require others for survival, but adults must lose their dependencies on others. A huge percentage of our energy is lost obsessing over what others are doing. If we took our power back this energy could be put forth in new directions

4) Lose your fear and move with courage

Creative individuals have less fears, anxieties and neurotic tendencies. They do not fear their own inherent greatness and own this gift more than the average person. These individuals do not put limits on themselves – they know they are heroes. Things do not have to be a particular way for them, rather than being straight and narrow they work concentrically.

They are courageous with their belief systems and almost stubborn in completing them. Their persistence in project will exhaust all those around them, but this quality is vital. Many great ideas are lost because of individuals inability to have the inner motivation to complete tasks. Their visions remain strong until the end

5) Trust and letting things happen

Allowing and receptivity are attributes of the creative person. They tend to be more positive and give up criticism of themselves and others. Doubting, choosing, correcting, and judging all take up an incredible amount of internal energy. When one is able to trust, there is an incredible amount of self-confidence that becomes almost unstoppable and allows the individual to turn fully to the present.

6) Unique and Spontaneous

Being unique requires confidence, trust and integrity. Creativity means being unique against the crowd and attacking a problem at hand from your own unique perspective. It is bringing something completely new into this realm. The opposite of creativity is dullness or conformity or doing things the way we were taught.

We want to teach our children to think outside the box, to even move the box to an entirely different level of awareness. Creative people become fully engaged in the project and with no other purpose in mind and are able to flow at full capacity.
